Smarter Balanced Welcomes Department of War Education Activity as Newest Member 

Smarter Balanced is proud to announce that the Department of War Education Activity (DoWEA) has joined the Consortium. 

“We are thrilled to welcome DoWEA to our Consortium,” said Smarter Balanced Executive Director Tony Alpert. “Their collaboration will strengthen our collective efforts to accelerate learning for all students.” 

DoWEA educators serve students and families across the United States and around the world. Membership in the Consortium provides DoWEA educators with access to high-quality Smarter Balanced assessment tools and resources. DoWEA will begin implementing the new system this school year. 

“Every student deserves an education system that understands where they are, recognizes their growth, and provides the support they need to succeed,” said DoWEA Director Paul Craft. “This assessment system will provide educators with additional information to support instruction and help families better understand their student’s academic progress.”
