As an advocate for the end user, working closely with product teams and developers, applies skills as a seasoned user experience / user interface designer in order to bridge the gap between user, the development team and key business stakeholders to create or improve the accessibility and usability of user experiences and quality of interaction with Smarter Balanced applications. Encourages Design Thinking and able to work in environments that leverage both agile and waterfall project methodologies.
Independently oversees a comprehensive communications program for a unit or school with moderately complex communications requirements. The communications program usually includes written, visual, digital and electronic communications. Works with management to develop and execute organizational communication and market branding strategy. Designs and implements information campaigns.
Proactively identifies communication opportunities. Leads development of written materials that are aligned to the Consortium’s communications plan and messaging strategy that can be incorporated into a variety of communication assets (e.g. video scripts, pamphlets, webpages, etc). Supports staff and leadership by providing guidance regarding strategic messaging, developing written materials based on high-level information provided by other staff; leads and contributes to agile and efficient editorial processes. Responsible for implementing a high-quality production process including information gathering from a variety of expert sources, writing, proofing for grammar and editing for clarity and ensuring stringent accessibility requirements are met.

Uses advanced skills related to applications in support of adult learning, multimedia design, formative assessment systems, communication tools, streaming media platforms, and multimedia creative applications to meet high quality instruction with formative assessment strategies and resources. Analysis of project requirements, which requires in-depth evaluation and understanding of learning goals, and designing technology tools that facilitate creation of content, access to the content by the diverse group of adults that need to use the systems and management of data related to access and use. Interacts with senior internal and external personnel, and has an exceptional command of communications that represents the organization. May assume responsibility for a program of courses offered at a university or with university affiliates. Serves as a multi-disciplinary project lead that supports internal developers, external contractors and members who provide guidance.
Works on assessment design content and initiatives that are of moderate scope and complexity. Applies organization policies, procedures and objectives to create assessment content to meet online needs among various functions and departments. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate actions. Involves scheduling, set up, submission, and monitoring content production to successful completion in accordance with established procedures and practices. Under the direction of the executive staff and in compliance with the University's policies and procedures, serve as an Executive Assistant for the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium. Major functions and areas of responsibility include oversight and coordination of operational functions: cultivate effective relationships with service providers and key consortium partners, proof documents and coordinate the development of technical presentations, manage the executives' calendars, travel plans, and travel reimbursements. Coordinate Consortium in-person meetings including managing meeting budgets, procuring venues and tracking reimbursements. Maintain and enhance Key Consortium Documents including Governing Board Procedures, Consortium Vote Records, and Consortium Staff Procedures. Serve as Smarter Balanced coordinator for emergency planning and security matters. Perform special projects or assignments, as needed. Serve as the primary in-person point of contact to other departments.

Serves as liason with campus Human Resources departments to help implement actions and resolve complex HR issues.
