Smarter Balanced Announces Teaching and Learning Innovation Awards Recipients
Santa Clara, CA, May 14, 2025 – Today, Smarter Balanced announced the recipients of its Teaching and Learning Innovation Awards Program (Innovation Awards).
Offering up to $10,000 to public school districts in Smarter Balanced member jurisdictions, the Innovation Awards highlight innovative practices using Smarter Balanced resources to inspire creative ideas for leveraging the Smarter Balanced Assessment System, and to increase awareness of the System’s capacity to enhance teaching and learning outcomes.
“The Smarter Balanced Consortium members are consistently seeking opportunities to support improvements in teaching and learning. The awardees demonstrate innovative and creative instructional practices that help their students learn the knowledge and skills that students, families, policymakers, and businesses value most,” said Smarter Balanced Executive Director Tony Alpert.
A panel of Consortium member representatives identified the following award recipients:
- Hawai‘i’s Kailua-Kalāheo Complex Area
- Idaho’s Lakeland Joint School District
- Oregon’s Salem-Keizer School District
- South Dakota’s Harrisburg School District
- Washington’s Sumner-Bonney Lake School District
By July 16, detailed summaries regarding these innovations will be published on the Innovation Awards website.
